The VANA Newsagent of the Year Awards comprises two categories; Retail and Distribution, and Award recipients are selected via a combination of sponsor and self nominations.  Award sponsors have their representatives and field agents score newsagents according to specific criteria - and a representative from each sponsor organisation (Silver and above) sits on the judging panel.

The VANA Newsagent of the Year Awards program culminates in a gala awards ceremony and dinner, the VANA Gala Dinner.

 The VANA Gala Dinner is the premier event on the industry calendar, and honours the spirit, creativity, and passion that make newsagencies a key contributor to Victoria’s economic health.

 The event draws together the industry’s leading players, including newsagents, publishers and suppliers.  An extensive marketing strategy is implemented in the lead up to the event to encourage attendance.

The VANA Gala Dinner awards ceremony features the announcement of finalists and overall award recipients from the Retail and Distribution categories.

In addition to celebrating the achievements of newsagency owners and operators, the VANA Gala Dinner recognises and promotes the contribution and support of the Association’s sponsors, partners and supporters.
